Joe the Plumber is Appalled by McCain

By Loryn Wilson - Dec 10th, 2008 at 11:44 am

Just when you thought Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher would fade into obscurity, Politico reports that he is now denouncing John McCain’s campaign tactics, saying that he was “appalled” by what he witnessed.

Wurzelbacher told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt “dirty” after “being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place.”

Recalling a conversation he had with McCain about the $700 billion financial industry bailout in September, Wurzelbacher said: “When I was on the bus with him, I asked him a lot of questions about the bailout because most Americans did not want that to happen.”

“I asked him some pretty direct questions,” he continued. “Some of the answers you guys are gonna receive — they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.”

Well boo-hoo. It’s funny how the tables turn after the candidate you were campaigning so hard for ends up losing. Why so appalled? Is it because McCain lost or is this real guilt we’re hearing from our beloved Joe the Plumber?

I think it’s a question of integrity. If Wurzelbacher really objected to McCain’s stance on a lot of issues, why stay on the campaign and pretend that everything was okay? This is a classic political game of “talk shit about the candidate so that I don’t look or feel so guilty.” If McCain won and offered Wurzelbacher a position in the the McCain White house, I wonder whether he’d accept despite the supposedly serious differences in opinion?

I’d like to believe that this is the last we’ll hear from Joe Wurzelbacher, but sadly, I know that it’s not.
