What to Do With Lieberman?

By Ned Resnikoff - Nov 6th, 2008 at 10:37 am

Via Tim Tagaris, it looks like the Senate Majority Leader is going to be giving Joe Lieberman a very stern talking to. This, of course, will only escalate rumors that Lieberman is about to get stripped of his committee chairmanship in exchange for backing the other party’s candidate.

So this might be a good time to note that, political considerations aside, Joe Lieberman has been an absolutely horrendous committee chair. The man who has the top oversight position in the Senate has literally gone out of his way to cover for the Bush administration on every single one of its corruption scandals and abuses of power. That’s completely unacceptable.

Of course, now that a Democrat is in the White House, one might very well expect Senator Lieberman to mysteriously develop a newfound interest in all things executive branch oversight.
