Obsessed: Lookbooks, MacBooks, and American Books

We can’t bear to watch the stock market fall, so we’ve been occupying ourselves with:
The brooches Michelle Obama seems to be wearing on her dresses these days. It’s a good look. If Jackie O. can have glasses, Michell O. can have brooches.
- Loryn Wilson
The Postelles. An indie pop band from New York. Their songs are really catchy and kinda remind me of early Beatles tracks. I haven’t seen them live (yet) but I’ve heard good things…
- Lisha Arino
Those bizarre CNN real-time debate graphs. I know they’re useless and hugely skewed by the four audience members behind them, but I can’t seem to stop looking at them.
- Kay Steiger
Lookbook. DIY lookbooks.
- Diana Jou
Ben Folds’ new album, especially “You Don’t Know Me,” that absurdly catchy song he recorded with my future bride, Regina Spektor.
- Ned Resnikoff
Drinking Schlitz.
- Saxon Baird
Topman. Ever since I went to the UK two summers ago I’ve dug their style and ubiquity, and now they’re finally expanding to the US.
- Nick Sifuentes
Nando’s. This Portuguese chicken restaurant–which started in South Africa–recently opened up its first U.S. branch in Washington, D.C. I can’t get enough of the restaurant’s peri-peri sauce. It’s tangy, spicy, and hot hot hot.
- Rob Anderson
FiveThirtyeight.com. I know this site was Kay’s obsession last week, but I can’t overemphasize how great it is. When you mix clear, concise writing with polling explanations that even people like me can understand, the results are fantastic.
- Jesse Singal
Work. I have a paper due so I don’t have time to be obsessed with anything.
- Emily Rutherford
American literature. Maybe it’s not good enough for those snobbish Swedes, but it sure is good enough for me.
- Matt Zeitlin
MacRumors. I’m eagerly awaiting the new MacBooks.
