America’s Next Top Model (For Real)
By Rob Anderson - Sep 4th, 2008 at 10:23 pmIf you actually care about the world of modeling, don’t waste your time watching any of the countless modeling competitions on television these days. Instead of following the ups and downs of reality television, you should keep track of the ins and outs of reality reality. So, if you really want to get into modeling as a spectator sport, what should you be watching? Fashion week, of course.
The Spring 2009 Fashion Week starts in New York tomorrow, and New York Magazine has published a preview of this season’s up-and-coming models. Although you won’t be able to learn about their personalities off the catwalk (like you would if they were on reality TV), you will be able judge their work over the next coming days. And, really, what’s more important than their work? (New York’s fashion page is the best place to keep tabs, I think.)
One good thing about this season’s young models: The most promising are all women of color.
